What does GSM mean in towels?
GSM measures how many grams one square metre of fabric weighs. Within a similar towel construction, a higher GSM generally means more material, a denser hand feel and greater packing volume.
GSM is a useful specification, but it is not a standalone quality score. Fibre type, yarn, loop height, weave, finishing and washing performance all affect absorbency, softness and durability.

How to evaluate a towel sample
Compare samples after washing where possible. Check actual dimensions, weight, absorbency, lint, shrinkage, colour appearance, edge stability and the feel of any logo decoration—not only the first-touch softness of an unfinished sample.
