Quick answer
The short version
01
Decoration techniques at a glance
| Technique | Best suited to | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Embroidery | Logos, monograms and premium identity | Stitch density, backing and pile affect hand feel |
| Reactive printing | Colour-rich designs on compatible cellulosic fabrics | Process and colour outcome depend on the base fabric |
| Digital printing | Detailed artwork, gradients and broader colour ranges | A smooth compatible print surface gives clearer detail |
| Heat transfer | Multi-colour graphics on suitable synthetic surfaces | Confirm hand feel, colour and wash performance on sample |
| Screen printing | Bold artwork with a controlled colour count | Ink coverage and surface texture influence the result |
| Embossed effect | Subtle tonal branding and texture-led design | Contrast is intentionally quieter than printed colour |
02
Start with the artwork, but specify the product too
Provide vector artwork when available, Pantone or target colour references, finished logo dimensions and placement. The supplier also needs the towel material, surface, size, colour and intended use before recommending a method.
Fine lines, small lettering and gradients behave differently across embroidery, looped terry and smooth printed surfaces. A practical production file may need to be simplified without changing the brand character.
03
How to make the final choice
- Prioritise the customer experience: tactile premium mark, all-over graphic, quiet tonal detail or cost-efficient event branding.
- Compare colour count and artwork complexity with the compatible techniques.
- Review logo size, placement, reverse-side appearance and effect on absorbency or softness.
- Approve a physical sample and agreed artwork before bulk production.
04
What to check on the decorated sample
Check placement, scale, colour, edge definition, surface feel, loose threads or backing, wash appearance and packaging presentation. Keep the approved sample and specification aligned as the reference for production.
05
Buyer brief checklist

- Vector logo or highest-quality artwork
- Pantone or target colours
- Finished logo size and placement
- Towel material, surface and colour
- Expected wash and durability requirements
- Quantity and target presentation
